Kagura (Shinto Ritual Dance)
This sacred Shinto ritual art boasts a rich history spanning approximately 700 years. The deeply revered tradition is exclusively performed by priests dedicated to the shrine, and features intricate dances and music on two tatami mats. From fall through winter, you can witness daily kagura performances dedicated to each shrine on the island, providing a unique glimpse into Japan's spiritual heritage.
